E.F.S. Online Publishing Guidelines

1.      How Should I submit my manuscript or book?
You may send your book or manuscript on a diskette or as a paper copy using standard 8 1/2' x 11' white paper.

2.      What format should I use in submitting my book?
You may submit your manuscript in a number of ways. We recommend, however, that you submit your books on disk because this gives authors more control over the appearance as well as the content of your manuscript. We urge you to submit your manuscript on a disk in any of the following standard formats:

o        Microsoft Word for Windows

o        WordPerfect for Windows

3.      What are your Submission Guidelines?
The following guidelines will help us to more effectively prepare your book for distribution:

o        Submit your book as one file, which should include the title page, table of contents (when applicable), all of the chapters, and index (if applicable). (Note: Generally, 500 to 700 pages will fit on a single disk.)

o        You may, however submit your "bio", "Jacket cover information", and "free preview" segments as separate files.(Note: Please remember that the purpose of these sections is to encourage readers to buy your book!)

o        We will present your readers with a 1 or 2 page Free Preview section. You must specify what pages you want to use in the Free Preview. If you wish you may submit these pages as a separate file. (We strongly urge you to submit your manuscript, Bio, Jacket Cover, Information, and Free Preview on a single disk whenever possible!)

4.      If I should submit my book as paper manuscript, what are the submission guidelines? Whereas the guidelines are the same as those for manuscripts submitted on disks, these additional points apply to manuscripts submitted as a paper manuscript:

5.      A scanning fee of $2.00 per page will be charged. It is imperative important that the author proofread carefully after a manuscript has been scanned because the best scans may include spelling errors. E.F.S. Online Publishing absolutely does not edit manuscripts; the author submits whatever he/she wants the public to read.

6.      The manuscript submitted for scanning must be complete.

7.      The scanning of a manuscript may result in a slightly longer time frame to actually prepare a hard-copy version of the manuscript ready for online publication. Scanning errors that occur are corrected without charge, but changes not relevant to scanning are charged at a rate of $30.00 per hour.· Be sure to include the 1 or 2 pages you want to be used in the Free Preview section.

8.      Use the submission form or a separate sheet to submit your Bio.

9.      Be sure to include the 1 or 2 pages you want to be used in the Free Preview section.5. Should I include a title page? Yes! However the first page of your book should be the title page which includes your name and copyright information. This is an example of how your first page should look:
Title of Book by John/Jane Doe Copyright 1998, John/Jane Doe
This book may not be reproduced in any form without the written consent of the author.

PUBLISH & SELL             YOUR BOOK THROUGH       E.F.S. ONLINE PUBLISHING

Publishing is an extremely competitive business today! And due to the escalating costs of conventional publishing by publishing houses such as Random House, McGraw-Hill, and Doubleday, to name a few, unfortunately fewer and fewer new or first-time authors are being published. The reality is that most of the conventional publishing houses choose to publish works by big-name authors who have a very successful track record. This decision is based more on the fact that publishing houses don't have the financial resources to take chances on works or authors that aren't as well established. Sadly enough, their decision is rarely based on the actual quality of the manuscript. As a result of these facts, fewer than 5% of all manuscripts are ever published and the odds against first-time authors are much, much worse!
